Harwood History
The origin of Harwood Engineering Consultants, Ltd., dates back to the founding of Brust Engineering, Ltd. in 1973. Robert Brust, upon leaving the position of engineering department head of a leading Wisconsin architectural firm, formed Brust Engineering, Ltd. The majority of the firm's work at that time consisted of structural design and engineering to various architectural clients, contractors and owners within, as well as outside, the state of Wisconsin.
Brust Engineering Expands and Incorporates
The firm incorporated as Brust Engineering, Inc. in 1975 because of the rapid growth achieved. This growth was a direct result of the firm's dedication to engineering excellence and total commitment to satisfying the needs of the client. From 1975 through 1984 the firm continued to grow in size and expertise.
Several projects of very large magnitude, as well as the presentation of significant papers and seminars on the topic, led Brust Engineering to become recognized nationally for its expertise in the area of exterior facade and cladding. The firm had also provided engineering services for the design and detailing of precast elements for several precast manufacturers.
Brust Engineering Becomes Harwood Engineering Consultants, Ltd.
Harwood Engineering Consultants, Ltd. was incorporated in 1984 to better serve clients' needs. The goal of HEC was to become a full-service professional engineering consulting firm, serving architectural and construction clients as well as government and industry. The scope of engineering services increased to include electrical and mechanical engineering.
Today HEC provides superior service to all phases of building construction, integrating advancing technology into each project to meet the needs of its clients.
